Halloween Crafts

Cooper started begging me to put out our Halloween decorations before September was even over. This really made me laugh, as we have no Halloween decorations. I wasn't on board with spending a lot of money, so I decided to let him help me make a few things. We checked out Pinterest and came up with two crafts to work on.

Cooper was very proud with how these turned out. It was also very hard for me to let him do it his own way and not try to do it for him.

The hands are his & the foot is Caitlin's. We started by painting each canvas one night, then added the spiderweb and dots the following night. The final night I helped each one add their hand/foot prints.

We also worked on this craft.

Cooper helped paint the solid color on each piece and I ended up doing the rest.

Phone Friday

Cooper went on a kick where he wanted to come home & have Jason throw the football with him. Unfortunately, we also had quite a few rainy days that week. One afternoon I decided to let them splash in puddles instead of throwing the football.

Caitlin didn't quite get the whole splashing idea, but would run from Cooper when he'd chase her.

Jason bought cupcakes the weekend I was out of town. Cooper had one after dinner, and of course Caitlin wanted one. Lucky for her, I was too tired to argue.

I made Caitlin a dress from leftover crib fabric. The sleeves were way too small, so Nana fixed that for me. I finally put the dress on her...only to have it be more like a tunic.

Cooper is 110% all about football this season.

We have quite a few hand-me-down outfits from Eileen that are perfect for the fall. I just loved how this one fit. Caitlin also pointed at it trying to say pumpkin.

Cooper almost lost it in Kroger one day when he saw this balloon.

Caitlin had an ear infection, I think, earlier this month. One evening we hit 102, so she was home the next day. Jason and I split the day & I ran errands with her that morning. We hit up the Trader Joe's Pumpkin Patch.

Superhero Saturday

We planned to make a trip to the zoo in September, as it had been quite some time since our last trip. After deciding on the last weekend, we found out it was Superhero Saturday. Two Superheroes were going to visit the zoo for a special meet & greet.

Cooper has always been pretty scared of people in costume. He freaks when Orbit and Rowdy are at the games. He lost his mind at a Halloween store last year when Barney was greeting people at the door (understood). We were pretty skeptical about him meeting the Superheroes, but decided to try.

We prepped Cooper on the way to the zoo and he agreed that he would go meet Spider-Man & Captain America. The line was a bit long, and SHIELD kept calling the Heroes out for a mission (I mean, really, how many breaks do they need?) but thankfully Aunt Sassy was along to keep Caitlin entertained.

After waiting entirely too long in line, it was our turn. Cooper asked Jason if that was the real Spider-Man before he went up there and was shocked when Spidey heard him and yelled YES! The look on his face was priceless.

I realized that I missed a few photos from September.

Football season started and both kids went to school in their Aggie Game Day attire. Whoop!

Amazon delivered a big box one day for Cooper & Caitlin. Cooper was thrilled to open the box and find a stuffed Darth Vader from Rachel!

Caitlin's toy actually came the next day - she got an Elephant Ball Popper that cracks her up.

Cooper has spent the night with Eileen a few times, but we had not been able to find a night for Eileen to visit us. Due to some bad weather, a beach trip was cancelled & Kelly asked if she could come over that night instead. We were free, so we were happy to agree!

Eileen thought this hat was pretty funny.

Caitlin has quite a few toys, but seems to love playing with the Batcave most of all. She's also a shoe fanatic and brings them to me to put on.

One day at school, Cooper threw a toy and accidentally hit his buddy Karson in the head. Karson ended up needing some glue from the doctor and Cooper felt really bad. His teachers were very clear that it was an accident, but he was terribly upset. I felt really bad for him, so I picked him up & took him to get an ice cream & go to the park. This photo made it totally worth my time.

Caitlin is a stellar fit thrower. She loves to scream and slowly lower herself onto the floor to continue throwing her fit. This time she misjudged the distance from the trashcan and hit it.

Cooper is WAY too big for his Gator, but won't admit it. Caitlin caught him driving it and threw a fit insisting she get in. Once she was in, she would not get out. Nana had to pull her out screaming.

Cooper requested to go to an Astros game one more time before the season ended. Pops took us one night after work & we managed to see Altuve beat Biggio's single season hit record. 

Cooper and I watched cartoons one morning while Caitlin slept in. It rarely happens that I let him turn the tv on, so he was pretty pumped.

Cowboys Game 2014

We missed the chance to take Cooper to the preseason game this year. Jason and I usually got to the home opener and that's typically my only game each season. Long before the season started, Cooper began talking about his trip to the Cowboys game. We knew we'd have to brave a regular season game and decided to just take him along to the home opener.

Uncle Kenny & Aunt RayAnn took the other two tickets & we bought Cooper a Party Pass so that he could sit on our lap. That will not happen next year - he did fine, but man is he heavy!

We begged Cooper the night before to sleep until his clock turned green. Unfortunately, at 6:40 he was in our bathroom asking if we were getting ready for Cowboys day. I begged him all the way to Dallas to try & nap, but he was much too excited. Finally we made it to Dallas, parked and walked over to eat lunch. Shortly after we sat down, he looked beat. Jason and I kept asking if he wanted to go take a nap in the car before the game, but he passed. I ended up ordering him a Sprite, hoping the sugar would help a little.

After lunch, we headed toward the stadium. Cooper really perked up then!

Once inside, we made our way to the seats and waited for the game to start.

Cooper worried off and on where Rowdy, the mascot, was. I kept telling him that Rowdy would not come up as high as we were. I had to eat my words when he was in the section next to us because a row won lottery tickets! Cooper could not stop watching him, scared to death he was going to come to our section next.

After halftime, Uncle Kenny bought Cooper some cotton candy. He really needed the extra sugar! That was our 1 loss of the season (so far) and it was really depressing. It's hard when your 4 to watch a game anyway, but watching your team not score can get really boring. The first minute of the game saw a touchdown by San Francisco and Cooper looked at me and said "uh, I wanted the COWBOYS to score a touchdown!" Yeah, buddy. You and half of everyone else in here!

By the time the fourth quarter came around, he was ready for a nap. Thankfully, Aunt RayAnn was happy to let him rest on her & he made it through the rest of the game.

It wasn't long before he was asleep in the car!

I've decided he can hang with a regular season game, but we can't do 3pm games again with him for a while. Unless we stay the night before in Dallas. He was exhausted, but loved it! Last week, I met someone to sell our Thanksgiving tickets and Cooper got really mad. He informed me that he wanted to go to that game & not give our tickets to that other man!

Caitlin's First Haircut

Early last month we decided Caitlin needed a haircut. She refuses to keep bows or clips in her hair and was constantly getting food and snot in her bangs. I knew we would be visiting my mom & I booked a time slot with Aunt LaDonna for her first haircut.

We really only did just a little trim on the bangs.

It is really nice to not have to worry about her waking up with snot in her hair or coming home with lunch saved for later.

August Phone Photos (pt 2)

We got up bright and early one Saturday morning to head out to New Orleans. Cooper was situated in the "way back" of Nana's car & set up with movies.

We spent the rest of our trip in both New Orleans & Gulf Shores.

After we returned home, we met Rachel one day for lunch. Caitlin was pretty excited about her new dress.

She also discovered the bike helmet.

And the swim goggles. I think she's been spending too much time with Mr. Scott.

I try regularly to put Caitlin's hair in pig tails. It lasts about halfway to school before she pulls them out.
