Wanna know what happens...

when you leave your camera in another town for a week?

Nothing.  The severe lack of posts are a result of my sister getting married (and all of the prep work that comes with) and not having my camera or photos for the next week.  Not much has been going on, though.  Cooper learned to climb.  On everything.  The dining room chairs. The sofa. Our bed.

The key is to keep him from standing on everything.  He's got this funny song he sings when he climbs on top of things.  I have no idea what it is or where he got it from, but it's the same thing every time.

I also wake up every day thankful that he hasn't realized he can also climb out of the crib.  The day that happens...well, I'm not sure what I'll do.

It might be sideways, but it is still cute.

My mom recently taught Cooper how to jump.  It's pretty cute.  I tried to get it on video, but he had something else in mind.

17 Months Old

Last week I learned that Cooper actually learns things at school.  They don't just play all day long!  Jason picks him up from school most days and they have quiz time.  We've been singing "Head, Shoulders, Knees & Toes" for a while but I haven't really expanded the list of body parts.  Arm...hands...fingers...belly...tongue...he's pretty good at most of it.

His teacher also said that if we ask him "Where's your booty?" he'll turn around and stick out his butt.  I have yet to verify that, but rest assured it will be on video.

He's started climbing like crazy.  He's climbed into the dining room chairs several times.  Note: we have a bar-high table.  Cue the heart attack.  He was also caught climbing onto his four-wheeler and trying to climb onto our sofa table.  I'm pretty sure it would collapse under him, so it's a good thing Jason caught him.

He's still fond of bananas, but they take a backseat to oranges.  If the fridge is open, he's pushing us out of the way to open the drawer and pull out an orange.  And if we don't peel it quickly enough, he'll just bite into the peel on his own.  I keep thinking he'll get tired of them, but I really think he could eat three or four each day.

I feel like he talks non stop these days although I really have no idea what he is saying.  Some days I feel like I'd pay him in ponies to be able to understand what he is saying!!

His current cute word of the week - block.  Except it comes out more like "blockaH."  I'll admit that I purposely pull out his blocks just to hear him say it again and again.  Love!

Happy Mother's Day

I mentioned that I've been gone quite a bit recently.  Last weekend I went out of town, came back Sunday and left again Tuesday for work.  When I got home Friday, I was all about relaxing and spending some time with my boys.  We ran a few errands, I got a pedicure and we did some cooking for the week.

Sunday morning we cooked a Mother's Day breakfast.  Cooper picked out a very pretty charm bracelet for me - I can't wait to show it off.  After breakfast, we headed to church.  I really had high hopes that Cooper would pull a repeat from Easter and fall asleep...massive fail.  Halfway through the sermon we headed down to the cry room where we finished out the service.  Next week, it's back to the nursery.  Pray for us.

The rest of the day was pretty low key - we grabbed lunch and did a little shopping before a late nap.  I took off for a (hot) walk and even got a little sun in the backyard before we let Cooper play in the water.  I didn't take a single photo all day.  But I'll remember it forever.

Specifically, I'll remember how he yelled "Momma" very loudly through Bed, Bath & Beyond every time I took two steps away from the cart.

To all of the mom's I know, all of the soon-to-be moms, all of the hopeful moms, and those who just love kids like a mom...I hope you had a great Mother's Day.

Arts & Crafts

Part of my regular mom guilt is that Cooper and I don't do crafty things together.  Yes, I know he's only 1.  Yes, I know that's what school is for.  Yes, I know there is plenty of time to do that later (and one day I'll complain up one side and down the other about painting some stupid solar system at midnight the night before the project is due).  But I still want to be able to do those things with him now.  So for Mother's Day, I took the chance to do some arts & crafts type thing with him.

I didn't take a picture of the final product, but we made some Mother's Day flower pots for the ladies in Cooper's life.  I think they were a hit.

Cooper does cool.

A few weekends ago I went out of town for Lindsey's bachelorette party.  Jason and Cooper manned the house and spent some time Sunday playing outside.  I bought Cooper some sunglasses a few months ago because he loves to play with ours.  Sure enough, he would wear his for a total of 5.2 seconds before taking them off.  Until that Sunday.  For some reason he put the sunglasses on and wore them around for quite a while.  And made for some really funny photos.

Happy Easter!

Jason & I decided to stay in Houston this year for Easter.  We've been gone quite a bit the last month, and I seem to be travelling a lot for work.  We needed the rest!  It ended up being a relaxing day and I loved watching Cooper play.

Sunday morning we slept in...if you can call 7am sleeping in.  Cooper came to check out what the Easter Bunny brought while we cooked breakfast.

It's possible we may have left him alone just a little too long...

After breakfast, we got dressed for church.
Cooper did great during church.  I was a little conflicted because he is really at the age where he cat sit still (and quiet) during church.  And every time we've taken him to the nursery he cries the entire time.  I spend the entire church service worried that he's causing trouble and that they will pull me out of church.  I just didn't want to fight that on Easter, so we took him to church with us.  He read his books for a while and halfway through the sermon, he crashed on Jason's lap and slept the rest of the time.

After his nap, we let Cooper hunt for eggs.  It took a little while and some prompting, but eventually he started noticing the eggs, running for them and picking them up.
We spent the rest of the afternoon letting Cooper play with his new toy and soak up some sun.  I have a feeling we'll be spending a lot of time doing that...
