Happy Father's Day!

Super Hero Cowboy

Most days I fight Cooper on what to wear.  I know, I should let it go, but I'm blaming this on my mom.  I'm about 99.9% sure that my sister I never left the house in something that didn't match or wasn't ironed.  To make up for it, I didn't inherit the ironing gene - I have a love affair with my dryer.

When we're at home, though, Cooper can just about wear whatever he wants.  Rainboots on a sunny day?  Sure.  Aggie marroon shorts & a red shirt?  No problem.  Cowboy hat, Cars slippers & super hero cape? You got it.

During the whole process, he started quoting the Good Night, Texas book by saying "Ride 'em Cowboy! Yee haw!"

Also, yes we let Cooper play with toy guns. Mostly he just walks around holding the trigger and making a LOT of noise.

Our original plan was to have Cooper's new room set & ready to go before he got there the first night.  Then we moved in, realized unpacking was going to have to come after cleaning and the whole plan went south.  He's been in a different room until last Friday.  We went and purchased a new twin mattress and came home Friday to set up his big boy bed!

We were both really nervous about him being upstairs and I think we plugged in 5 night lights, but he slept all night in his room!  So far this week, he's done really well also!  He wakes up any time between 6:15 & 7:15, but he's not waking up during the night.  Score.

Some of my favorite summer memories include slicing a chilled watermelon at the picnic table.  I have waited patiently to buy one, finally grabbing one Saturday.  I also found a large seedless one, which makes it easier since I don't think Cooper would get the idea of spitting them out.  He loves "melon water."

Monday we had dinner to celebrate Uncle A's birthday. As usual, Cooper wanted to go home with Aunt Sassy.  His face leaving dinner wasn't this cheerful.

Last week I decided I'd had enough with the buying diapers thing.  I was done.  We were going to be home all weekend, so Friday night we ran through Target and grabbed some big boy underwear.  Cooper picked up super hero ones and we started bright & early Saturday morning.  We had a few accidents, Wolverine didn't make it, but by Monday he was doing much better.  We sent him to school with several changes of clothes & by Wednesday he was wearing the same thing all day - no accidents!  He still wears a pull up for nap time, but I'll consider it mostly a success!  He does have a new found love for trying to poop - only because he gets quiet time to watch Mickey Mouse on Jason's phone.  Guess that's a boy thing?

Recently Cooper learned the word "forgot."  The first time he used it we were at a stop light and I heard him say "Green means stop."  After I corrected him, he told me "I forgot!"  Since then, we've forgotten all sorts of things.  Cupcakes for my birthday.  Cupcakes for Uncle A's birthday.  A party hat for Uncle A.  But my favorite was when he told my mom last week that she forgot to pick him up from school.  She didn't think it was funny.

Earlier this week I got an email that included some adorable photos of baby Adalynn.  I showed Cooper and asked if he thought she was cute.  He agreed and then I said "Oh, I could just squish her!"  Horrified, he yelled at me "NO! Momma, that's not nice!"  Good thing he's already looking out for her.

Being Super

Cooper has a new found infatuation with Super Heroes.  Honestly, he has no idea what most of them are & he hasn't seen many super hero tv shows, but his new friend Joe is obsessed.  Or as obsessed as an almost 4 year old boy can be.  Cooper still loves Lightning McQueen & trains, but he really loves super heroes.  For Joe's 5th birthday, his mom decided to have a Super Hero party.  The kids were encouraged to wear their hero costumes and Joe's dad even set up an obstacle course in the back yard.

We borrowed a Batman costume from a friend and suited up for the party.  To say that Cooper was excited would be an understatement.  He could not wait to put on his costume and go to Joe's party and be Batman!

Batman & Super Girl!
Our kids are going to hate us one day.
Cooper ran through the obstacle course (sort of)...
After the training mission, most of the kids changed into the awesome capes made by Jess's mom.  Cooper loves having his to wear around the house.  We did give the costume back to our friend, but I think I am going to have to buy a new one.  Cooper keeps asking for his Batman mask...

Phone Friday 6/15

Cooper spent last Friday with my mom.  He tried on my step brother's baseball helmet and proclaimed "I a Astro!"
We made a quick trip to my mom's house last weekend and went out to dinner Saturday night. Cooper was very upset that we forgot the cupcakes - he thought we were going to my birthday party.
Monday we met up with some friends & family for dinner.  Cooper was a little upset that we'd forgotten to bring cupcakes.

Cooper played around pretending to take photos with a spoon.
We started painting the two bedrooms upstairs. I wanted to paint the guest bedroom yellow.  A nice muted yellow.  I ended up with what I'd like to call Get Yo A$$ Out of Bed Yellow.  It is bright.  But bright & cheerful.  I like it.  It wasn't what I thought I wanted, but I do like it.

The house we purchased had a swing set in the back yard.  Jason & I spent some time pressure washing it Sunday (hello, that is fun!) and Cooper has loved having it!

Go Astros!

The Astros & Rangers played in Houston last month, so we decided to get tickets and head to our first game of the season.  Cooper was so excited to go to a baseball game.  The whole drive in to pick up Jason he talked non stop about going to see the Astros play baseball.

We met up with Jason & Joe and also saw Ms. Kelly & Mr. Kyle.  Kelly is a BIG baseball fan and doesn't like to be distracted, so Eileen stayed home.  I was surprised, and pleased, at how well Cooper did.  He had a hard time seeing the field and did fall head first into the seat below (awesome) but I couldn't really fault him for trying to see home plate.  We stayed until about 9pm, which was only the 5th inning.  Such a slow game!

We've decided to get better seats next time since Cooper actually wanted to watch the game.  We can't wait to go back!

Happy Mother's Day

I wanted to spend Mother's Day taking Cooper to the zoo & hanging out in the backyard.  Since we missed the Dinosaur exhibit during Zoobilee, I wanted to be sure & check it out on this trip.  Cooper was so excited to see the Dinosaurs.

Until we saw the big ones.  Then he freaked out, tried to climb into my shirt, and begged to leave.

We're awesome & made him tough it out - explaining that they were not real.  He didn't really buy it, but we did make it through the whole exhibit.
We made our way over to the children's area to see some animals that were a little less intimidating.
There is a photo of my cousin & I at this same water fountain as kids floating around somewhere.  When Adalynn is old enough to enjoy the zoo, I plan on taking the same photo of our two kids.
We made our way through the rest of the zoo before heading to the park to eat lunch.  We promised Cooper that if he ate all of his lunch we could ride the train.
I enjoyed the spending the day with my boys!

Splish Splash

I bought Cooper some rain boots a few months ago.  After last summers drought, the purchase was actually made for him barn shoes.  Ones he could wear when he took trips to Aunt Sassy's barn or to see my mom.  However, last month we had a few good rain storms - one right before my scheduled garage sale.  Since we were up & at it early, I decided to let Cooper splash around for a while.

This was the first time he had the chance to splash in puddles. It didn't take long for him to figure things out!

Cooper had to come in a few times to dump the water out of his boots.  I guess that's the sign of a successful puddle splashing day.

Phone Friday 6/8

Last weekend Cooper came into the bathroom and told me he wanted his "cowboy thing."  I knew he & Jason had "discussed this" so I asked what his dad said.  He went running out of the bathroom & yelled back at me "He said no!"

Well, shortly after he ran back into the living room wearing this.  He gave Jason the impression that I said yes.  Master Manipulator at age 2.

We spent Sunday pulling everything out of the attic for the move.  I realized that my garage looked like an episode of hoarders & that we had a big attic.  Cooper had a bit of an attitude problem - it was hot, we were not playing with him & he had a short nap.  He noticed the Santa box and asked if it was Santa.  I confirmed that it was & told him that Santa could hear everything he had done & he knew how ugly he'd been talking.  Eyes widened...mouth dropped open...panic set in.  I informed him that he should probably tell Santa he was sorry & Cooper promptly knelt down to have a talk with the big guy.

Momma can manipulate too.

We blew up the pool for a Sunday afternoon swim & as usual Cooper was bored after half an hour of playing.  He changed into dry clothes...only to want back in an hour later.
Tuesday we moved into 'Cooper's New House.'

Phone Friday 6/1

This was a was a bit of a slow week. We spent most of our time packing & trying not to go crazy from the house buying drama.  I really thought the hardest thing would be getting our house sold.  But - things are looking up & we should move next week!  Although I won't rest completely until we sign the papers.

Saturday we went shopping for a new fridge.

By Monday afternoon, my office looked like this.

Cooper spent Monday night with Sassy.  He had a run in with a mosquito...and lost.

But before he went over there, Jason tatted him up.  McQueen, of course.
