October from the Phone

So far, this month has flown by. I feel like we're never home and when we are, we just collapse from exhaustion! Cooper has been asking all month if it is Halloween Day yet. Poor kid - October is just a long month when you're excited about Halloween.

I started the month away in Dallas for a girls weekend.

The last day of my trip, Jason picked me up & we went to the Cowboys vs Broncos game. Even though the Cowboys lost, it was a very exciting game.

Cooper is totally obsessed with Rowdy. As long as he doesn't come anywhere near him.

Caitlin cracks me up some days.

I came back from my weekend away to a sick little girl. I took her to the pediatrician where she discovered the little girl in the mirror.

Mornings are usually rushed. I love when they are not and things like this happen.

Caitlin finally felt better & we hit up a pumpkin patch one Saturday. She was still in a great mood that afternoon.

Sunday means it's time to watch Cowboys football.

Caitlin is finally sitting up a little. She just doesn't last long before she starts to topple over.

We bought Cooper's costume from Target online. I couldn't find the size we needed in the store, so I quickly ordered from my phone. He waited all week for the costume to come in the mail.

We spent another Monday at swimming lessons for Cooper. Side note: he's doing really well! For some reason, there have only been two kids in the class for the past two weeks. So instead of splitting his time with 3 other kids, he gets to split his time with just another little girl. It's made a huge difference.

Her Halloween costume came in the mail. I cannot wait for some cold weather so she can wear it daily.

Jason's parents sent a little plant for our anniversary. Cooper was very excited about the pumpkin.

We all went to dinner for our anniversary.

Cooper played putt-putt golf recently with my mom. He's since tried his hand playing in the backyard. For some reason he thinks he needs to hit the ball off of the tee, which cracks me up.

25 Weeks Old

I cannot believe Halloween is next week! I searched for some cute pjs for Caitlin and finally found these at Target.

We moved to avocado this week. The first few days were pretty much the same as last week - not a fan! I finally bought a box of rice cereal and tried that. We mixed the cereal with breastmilk, and then I added a little avocado and she was a little happier. The second night she ate almost all of the avocado!

She's also moving a bit more around. One morning, I put her on a blanket while I made my lunch & Cooper's breakfast. I walked back through the living room to find her pretty far away from the blanket. I'm not sure if she rolls multiple times, or gets onto the wood floor and scoots around. Either way...my time is limited! I know we need to buy and install a gate for the stairs, but I'm in denial. It will require something that has to be screwed into the sheetrock and I don't want to do that.

I mentioned that she flips over pretty quickly after being set down. This week, we put her on the blanket and she was mad when we made her roll back over.

24 Weeks Old

The past two weeks have flown by. I honestly can't remember much of what's gone on!

Last week we tried giving Caitlin real food. We fed her carrots a few days in a row, hoping she'd catch on. Instead she took a few bites, started to gag, get dramatic and angry.

Caitlin is at the point now where she rolls over pretty soon after being set down.

These pjs belonged to Cooper - I love seeing her wear some of his old stuff.

I bought this headband to go with an outfit for family pictures. That ended up being postponed due to weather...however I just love it.

Pumpkin Patch 2013

Eileen's school hosted a pumpkin patch last weekend. We had Saturday free, so we decided to head up there for a few photos & a chance to buy a large pumpkin to support her school.

Cooper came downstairs wearing his Spider-Man cowboy boots...that are most likely on their last wear. Since it took so much effort to get the boots on, I let him wear them. Even if it meant he wore them with shorts.

The school had a bounce house for the kids to play in and Cooper could not wait to be released from photo time to go jump. I did manage to hold him hostage long enough to grab a few photos.

Caitlin was in such a better mood compared to the day before!

23 Weeks Old

Caitlin was SICK this week. Before I went out of town she had a bit of a cough and snotty nose, but nothing too bad. When I came back...she sounded like she'd been smoking. She had this nasty, hacking smokers cough that sort of sounded like a bark. Tuesday morning I took her to the pediatrician just to be sure it wasn't something major. He diagnosed her to broncholitis. And said there wasn't much we could do for it.

Wednesday, I loaded both kids up & took them to daycare. 2 hours later I got a call to come get Caitlin because she was running fever. That happened to be the exact time I was walking out the door to meet a client for lunch. Thankfully, Aunt Sassy & her BFF saved the day and watched a poor, sick baby during their lunch break while I met my client.

Caitlin spent Thursday with Nana while I went back to work. It was a rough few days for all of us. She wanted nothing more than to be held, didn't eat much, and sounded so pitiful when she cried. She finally felt better Friday and I sent her back to school, just in time for picture day.

Since she felt so crappy and the week was chaos, I didn't snap her photo until Friday. Doesn't this look like a sick girl?

Cooper tried to make her smile, but didn't have much luck.

I asked Cooper to take a nice picture with his sister. That afternoon, I asked him how the pictures went and if he took a nice one. He quickly told me that he did. When I asked if he took one with his sister, he said "yeah, but she cried."

Well, at least I know not to expect stellar school photos.

22 Weeks Old

Man, October sort of came in with a bang! It's been a busy month so far and I am certain the rest of the year will be a whirlwind. I am going to try to remember to keep my phone with me and take photos because I don't think I'll be able to remember what we do every day without it.

I feel like I say this every week, but I cannot get over how much these two kids love each other. Caitlin cannot get enough of her brother. And Cooper will do just about anything to make her laugh. He's a super silly boy, but she's easy to entertain.

This week, he danced around the room and she followed him making it hard to get her to look at the camera.

She's going to be a tall girl, I think. Though, that's not a surprising statement considering my height and Cooper's. I'm a pajama addict. I have a hard time going into a store and not looking at them...and sometimes they just jump in the cart and beg to come home with me. That's the downside of having so many hand me downs - no new super cute pajamas. I bought these for Caitlin, only to realize she's just about too tall for them! And Cooper's were new as well.

I think I need a 12 step program for pajama buying...

5 Months Old

It's hard to believe 5 months have passed since Caitlin was born. Time flies with kids, but I think with two it goes so much faster because every day is a blur. I have talked to people having their second kid and when they ask what it is like, I can only say "survival mode." I feel like we race the clock daily to get to school on time, work, cook and eat dinner, baths, a little bit of down time, clean the house and nurse. Plus, wash bottles, do laundry...and, well, it never ends!

Caitlin has changed so much in the past month. She's rolling over any time her back hits the ground. She talks and laughs often and is crazy about her brother. If he is in the rooms, she cannot do anything other than look for him. Most of her deep belly laughs come only from laughing at him.

We've tried a few times to give her solid food, but she hasn't been a fan. It seems strange - at this time Cooper was on his third or fourth veggie and eating like a champ. She is perfectly content with milk. Just another reminder that they are so different!

In the midst of the craziness that is our life, I could not find a solid white onesie for her photos. This was the closest thing we had to a solid color. I went with it, and sure enough I located the stack of solid white ones the next day.
