Some days, I can't believe Cooper is so grown up. I find myself amazed at what he can do and the things he says.
Right now, he's about 45 pounds and I would estimate he's 41-42" tall. Though I'm certain the week we spent in the hospital with Caitlin he grew 4 inches. In his legs. He's wearing 4T shorts and 4 or 5T shirts. Shoes are a good size 11. And still a cause of distress when he gets dressed. He fought me for months, begging to wear his "loud shoes" to school every day. When we finally moved them into school rotation he completely wore them out. Now they've been replaced and I have to force him to wear them as outside play shoes!
He frequently eats as much as I do during a meal. We pick up do-nuts every Friday as a reward for not fighting to get dressed during the week. Cooper usually gets a sausage kolache and either a do-nut or 6 do-nut holes. And he eats all of it!
We finished two weeks of swimming lessons last week. While he can't swim across the pool, he does better than he did last summer. We spent two days in the pool earlier this week with Eileen swimming like a fish, and by the end of day two Cooper picked up a few things from her. I would like to hope that by the end of the summer he gets the hang of things, but won't hold my breath.
I could not ask for him to be a better big brother! He loves his sister dearly and is constantly asking where she is. If she's laying somewhere, he will stop what he's doing to go talk to her and hug her. He's also very helpful when it comes to things I need for her. I try not to take advantage of his eagerness and thank him for his help as much as possible. So far, the only negative we've seen has been a regression in potty training. He went from not peeing overnight for almost 2 months, to peeing in his pull-up almost every other day. He is also very jealous when it comes to time spent with Aunt Sassy. He doesn't mind sharing Jason & I, but he does not want to share her!
The best part about this age is the things he says. Jason and I are constantly cracking up at what comes out of his mouth. Here are some recent funny things.
Last week, he had the opportunity to stay two extra hours at VBS and take a lunch. We talked about it the day before and he told me he was going to take a Spiderman lunch box. Since we didn't have one, I told him he would actually be borrowing one of my lunchboxes. Jason, though, decided to surprise him with a new Spiderman lunch box that afternoon.
The next morning, he came in my room bright and early asking if it was the day to take a lunch. I assured him we would pack it before VBS. Shortly after, he came back into my room and threw the lunchbox on my bed saying "I packeded my lunch mom!"
Cooper watches a LOT of Dinosaur Train these days, so we decided to go to the museum for Father's Day. Cooper told everyone we were going to the "pal-e-ontology useum."
Father's Day morning, we were all four in bed watching tv. I reminded Cooper that he should tell Jason Happy Father's Day. He looked at Jason and said "Happy Father's Day daddy. Me & mom got you a card from Target."
That afternoon, on the way to the museum, he was talking to Jason's dad. He kept trying to tell him that Eileen was going to Nana's house. We heard him say "Eileen is going with me. Eileen. EILEEN SUSAN!"
