Phone Friday 9/14 & 21

Fall is my busy time of year. Work gets crazy, the weekends fill up fast and before you know it Christmas will be here.  Just ask Hobby Lobby - they're prepared.

Unfortunately, the fall hasn't really come with fall weather. We had 1 week of nice mild temperatures but now we're back to warm crazy almost summer like temps.  And by almost I mean 92 instead of 102.  But really...anything over 90 is hot.

We kicked off the first official football weekend in style

That afternoon I kept my promise of putting out the Slip & Slide.

Aunt Sassy bought Cooper some new Aggie gear and he couldn't wait to wear it to school.

Two weeks ago, Pops picked Cooper up from school for the weekend. His last visit was cut short due to strep, so everyone was excited. Pops splits his college football allegiance between Alabama and A&M, so I sent Cooper in his Roll Tide shirt.
While he was gone we painted my office.  The first color I came home with was supposed to be grey but ended up looking purple. We scraped the whole project and repainted it a lighter grey.  It looks blue here, but it really is grey in person. A very light grey.  The darker color was the original lilac-shaded-grey and the lightest color was the original yellow.

Cooper came home with new boots.  That Friday he wanted to wear these brown socks and I told him those were his socks for boots.  Well of course he wanted to wear his boots.  However, he's outgrown those.  When my mom heard that she told Pops who stopped that day to get him new boots.  They're a little big, but I'm pretty sure he's going to wear them for many many years.  And if you look closely, they have blue & red spiderweb detail.  Yes, they are Spider Man boots. Cooper loves them.

I bought a new desk on Craigslist and painted it blue.  Tiffany Blue really.  Here it is moved into the office.

Last Friday was pajama day at school. If only every day were this easy!  Cooper wore his Spider Man pjs.
Today he asked me if he could wear pjs again to school.  Sadly, I had to say no.

A little weekend fun

I've been really lazy about using my camera lately. It is just so easy to grab my phone...but the photos are never as good!

A few weeks ago I made a point to carry the camera around the house. Cooper spent some time playing upstairs while Jason worked on the a/c unit in the attic.

Go Cowboys!

Last month we headed to Dallas for Cooper's first Cowboys Football Game.  Jason & I planned to take him to the home opener coming up at the end of September, but decided it would be a good idea to do a trial run first. Since pre-season tickets are hard to sell & this happened to be a Saturday night game, it was a perfect idea.

Aunt Sassy came along for the trip and I'm pretty sure Cooper told everyone we saw that we were going to the game.  We stopped at the hotel to change, grabbed dinner at Pappasitos (why are their tables always so close together?) and made our way to the stadium.

My biggest concern was the noise.  Cooper is NOT a fan of loud noises and usually freaks out when he's around them. We took some small ear plugs and crossed our fingers.

Thankfully he did great!  The only issue we had were the numerous potty breaks. I know he didn't need to go as much as he claimed, he just wanted to move around.  And since we're not seated on the end of the row, I worried about the people around us.  We've decided to skip the home opener with him for this reason.  I'm pretty sure people won't be quite as understanding during a real season game as they were that night.

Now we just have to lie to Cooper. I'm certain if we tell him where we're going, he'll melt. And not the "oh, so cute!" way.

Swim Time

The weekend of my mom's birthday, we surprised her by inviting some friends & family over.  Cooper had been begging to go swimming all day, and she was just about to take him when I stepped in. I was pretty sure she wouldn't have been thrilled to be in the pool when guests showed up.  Since the pool ended up pretty crowded, I put Cooper's arm floats on.

He's never been a big fan of them, but some of the other kids were sporting them & he agreed.  He quickly figured out that with them out, he could leave the steps & bench.  And I was pretty pleased that he did so well "swimming" from one side to another.
Bridget & Adalynn came swimming as well.  Unfortunately, her bathing suit didn't quite fit and she wasn't too sure about the water.
Pretty soon Cooper won't give her a choice!

Holding down the fort

Last month we made a trip to The Ranch to visit my family for my mom's birthday.  When we got there, Cooper & Zeth started playing like boys do.  They grabbed their toy guns and decided to man the fort.  You know, just in case any bad guys decided to come by.

We were all very well protected!

Phone Fridays: 8/31 & 9/7

Last week I ended up making a quick trip out of town.  As a result, I didn't get around to posting.  We also spent the weekend working mostly outside & I decided to just combine two weeks.  I'm behind on a lot these days, so be patient.

Two weeks ago Cooper mentioned that he wanted to have donuts with mommy, daddy & Cooper.  The next morning we headed to the donut shop for breakfast.

Even a superhero needs breakfast.

That afternoon we loaded up & headed to Dallas for Cooper's first pro football game!

It wouldn't be an outing with Aunt Sassy without cotton candy.

We spent the long holiday weekend working around the house & in the garage. But we also took some time to relax & play.

On our weekly grocery trip, Cooper & Jason disappeared a bit.  They came back with flowers that Cooper picked out himself.

Ms. Kelly had a late doctors appointment for baby Evan & we were glad to help out by picking up Eileen.  I gave them a snack & let them watch a little tv before dinner.

Wednesday night kicked off the 2012 football season and Cooper practiced his touchdown yell.

Watching football is serious work.
