4 Weeks Old

I can't believe it's been 4 weeks! I did an unofficial weight check yesterday and estimate her to be right around 11 pounds. Which would explain why we're pretty well out of the NB pajamas. They are all sliding off of her shoulders when she stretches her legs out.

Cousins

Last weekend Adalynn was finally able to meet her baby cousin Caitlin. We tried several times to arrange a meeting, but things kept coming up. Aly loved seeing Caitlin, but that's nothing compared to how she lights up when she sees Cooper!

A Comparison

Most people I saw on a weekly basis while pregnant couldn't believe how big my belly was. Heck, some days I couldn't believe it. But these were people who didn't know me when I was pregnant with Cooper.

Here is the photo take then day we went in to have Cooper.

Here's a photo the day I went in to have Caitlin.

As much as they look the same, the photo is deceiving. I was, in reality, much smaller with Caitlin.

When the nurses in the OR first saw Caitlin, they all said "she looks just like mom." And I called bullsh!t. I thought she looked just like Cooper. It was really a bit like deja vu.

A real bath!

Cooper has been dying for Caitlin to be able to take a real bath. The first night we gave her a sponge bath, he stood beside us helping, despite her screams of disapproval.

Since then, he knew that as soon as her cord fell off, she could take a real bath. We killed two birds with one stone and put them in the tub together. Cooper has done really well during shared bath time, not splashing her or trying to baptize her early.

3 Weeks Old

Caitlin is now 3 weeks old and I feel like she's growing like a weed. We are going to move her to size 1 diapers when we run out of the newborns. I've also started rotating some of the smaller 0-3/3 month size clothing. A few of her NB size pajamas are getting a little short, causing them to slide down on her shoulders. I wouldn't be surprised if we're completely out of NB in just a few weeks!

We made another trip to the pediatrician this week. Monday I noticed a funky smell coming from her cord. Yes, at almost 3 weeks old she still had her cord hanging on by a thread. I called the doctor Tuesday morning and they had me bring her in that afternoon. Dr. K ended up cutting it off so that we could clean it better. Thankfully, it wasn't infected but a better cleaning would help prevent that.

I also asked him about her being so gassy. One day this will embarrass her - but that girl smells worse than her big brother! She seems to have some digestion problems, so Dr. K suggested giving her a probiotic daily. I spent that afternoon searching for the right kind and we finally started that late Wednesday.

Caitlin seems to be a decent sleeper. She doesn't nap that well, which I think is partially a result of her gas. But I think she makes up for it overnight. We usually feed her around 9 (give or take a half hour) and put her to bed. She's been waking up around 1-1:30am and eats for around an hour. She's slow like Cooper. She wakes up again around 4-4:30 and I feed her quickly so that we can both get a little more sleep. Her & Cooper are both usually up for the day around 7am. Once I feed her, feed him & pump we finally make it to daycare around 8:30-9am. Cooper really loves spending time with Peanut Butter in the morning! If she's not in my bed when he comes down, he immediately wants me to go get her. I have a feeling he cannot wait until she is able to play with him.

Phone Photos - April

Wow - I am SO behind on this!! Here are some photos from last month.

We celebrated Adalynn's birthday and Cooper crashed on the way home.

I sewed for the first time in ages and made two changing pad covers!

Cooper helped us unpack baby toys and confiscated one of his old favorites.

We took him to my last ultrasound and took advantage of an early afternoon together at the park.

A few warm days meant popsicle time had arrived.

This racetrack is the first thing he shows everyone who comes over.

My mom, Rachel, and I took Cooper to Disney on Ice. He enjoyed it! However, when he talks about going back it is so that he can get inside of this Mickey Bounce House that was set up on the concourse. For the record, he's not been a fan of bounce houses in the past...

School picture day came and I begged Cooper to take a good photo. He told me that D (in his class) would take a good picture. I responded that I'm not D's mom and I want a good photo of HIM! I was so happy to see these proofs.

I took Cooper on a date before PB arrived. He picked Chick Fil A, with hopes of playing on the playground. Unfortunately, it was school spirit night and the Cow was there. Since he's terrified of costumed people, he never did get to play.

The boys bought me roses and I'm pretty sure these are the prettiest blooms I've ever gotten out of roses.

We had Christmas in April...

and I prepped my post baby freezer for margaritas.

Our last weekend as a family of three brought great weather, so we brought out the water slide.
April closed with a bang! Caitlin arrived on the last day of the month.

Perfect little baby!

Two Weeks Old

Tuesday, Caitlin & I spent our first day alone. We slowly managed to get out and drop Cooper off at school, before coming home to an exciting day filled with laundry & sessions on the sofa to eat. I completely forgot how much time is spent feeding a newborn and how few things get done around the house because of that!

Last week, I met with a group at a nearby hospital to work on some feeding issues. While I was there, I went ahead and weighed her. She's up to 9lbs 8.5oz - meaning she gained almost a pound in just over a week!

Happy Mother's Day

As we have in the past, we spent Mother's Day at home. Especially since Caitlin wasn't quite two weeks old! We started the day with breakfast - cooked by my boys - while Caitlin and I lounged in bed with coffee. Jason & Cooper had also picked up flowers & a balloon for me the night before. Cooper was most excited about the balloon.

The rest of the day was spent hanging out around the house, playing with Cooper and feeding a hungry (and growing) baby. I did get away for a quick trip to get a pedicure with Kelly. Not only was the pedicure nice, but I really enjoyed visiting with her without hearing "mom" every 15 seconds. :-)

We finished up the evening with pasta & bread (something I'd been craving for months, thanks to my diet) before relaxing on the sofa.

I'm so blessed to have these two in my life!

Mickey Mouse

As we were leaving the hospital, Jason decided to pick up a large Mickey Mouse balloon for Cooper as a gift from Caitlin. He was thrilled when we brought him home and Mickey followed Cooper around the house for days.

I managed to grab a few photos one afternoon.

The helium has really gone out now. Which makes for a very sad looking mouse.

Let's fly a kite

Last month (pre-PB), we headed out to help Aunt Sassy & Uncle A move to their new place. On the way, we made a stop at Target where Cooper ended up with a kite. I'm not quite sure where & when he'd heard about kite flying, but he was very excited. Thank you Dollar Bin!

After we finished the moving chores, Jason & Cooper set off to fly the kite.

The fun ended when Cooper tripped and fell into some bull nettle. Thankfully, he felt better the next day.

One Week Old

Caitlin celebrated her one week birthday the same way Cooper celebrated his - with a trip to the pediatrician's office. When we left the hospital, she'd dropped 10% of her weight down to 8lbs 1.6 oz. The pedi at the hospital wanted us to go in for a weight check. I had to laugh, since Cooper did not have this problem, but I was determined to feed her as much as she wanted all weekend and pack the ounces back on.

Tuesday, my mom and I loaded her up and headed to see Dr. K. Thankfully, she gained weight like a champ and was up to 8lbs 7.8 oz. Dr. K came in and checked her over and gave us the option to do her post hospital bloodwork that day. I jumped on the chance so that I wouldn't have to bring her back again a week later.

One Week Stats:
Height: 21" - 87th%
Weight: 8lbs 7.8oz - 70th%
Head Circumference: 35.9 cm - 63rd%

That evening, Pops came over for another visit.
Before bath, we took her first weekly photo. My mom made the quilt to match her crib bedding - I absolutely love it! The pink bear came from Cooper. He spent time with Nana at the Rodeo carnival and won that for Peanut Butter.
