We're visiting Jason's parents for Thanksgiving so we took our Wednesday photo at their house. I had intentions of grabbing his blanket but that didn't happen. My little turkey was in rare form. He also thinks that when he sees a blanket he is supposed to play peek-a-boo.

Here it comes.
We've been in full holiday season swing for a month or so, but since today it Thanksgiving...Christmas is officially right around the corner. Tomorrow I'll fight the crowds for a little shopping. But that's it. Usually I spend Saturday and Sunday putting up Christmas decorations, watching cheesy holiday movies on ABC Family & Lifetime, and singing a few songs to myself. (I know my limits, ok.)
Not this year. With Cooper's party next weekend we're holding off on decorations. The house just isn't big enough for a tree and a lot of people. But I am sneaking in a little holiday spirit by getting a head start on my Christmas cards. We usually buy the kind in a box. I mean, who wants a photo of the two of us? But babies...everyone loves photos of babies. Especially Chritsmasy-themed photos of babies. Eek!!!
I've been using Shutterfly for ages. Before I even knew there were other options. I've ordered prints and photo books and CDs. But I've never used them for Christmas cards...until this year. Last weekend we took family photos and I am so excited to get them back and order my cards! Shutterfly has some awesome new layouts which leaves me with the biggest problem of all...picking just one. Thankfully they have options for more than one photo because I have a feeling I won't be able to pick just one photo.
I love the colors on this one:
This is just fun:
So elegant:
Oh and this...yeah...I have no idea how I'm going to make a decision.
Plus, a fellow blogger linked a submission form where you can get 50 free photo cards if you happen to also be a blogger. Score! Who doesn't love free?
Once you're done building cards check out their other gifts. We were informed months ago that photo coffee mugs make the perfect grandparent gifts. Also, who wouldn't love a calendar filled with pics of their favorite little turkey?

Thankful
Today I am thankful for a lot of things. A new job that is coming at the right time. Things fell into place and that usually means something good. I'm thankful that I'll be able to take 2 days off between jobs to spend a little extra time with the men in my life (and maybe...hopefully...go see Harry Potter).
I'm thankful for the men in my life. Especially the short one who can make me so frustrated that I want to scream, but gives me the biggest smile and ends up making me melt. For the not-so-short one who is patient with me and Cooper. We both need someone to be patient.
I'm thankful for the rest of my family. The ones who make me laugh, the ones who listen to me complain and the ones I pray for.
I'm thankful for the best group of friends I never thought I would ever have.
Happy Thanksgiving!

Joy Day 40
Actually completing all 40 days...on time! Sure, I missed days...had some rough days...had days with photos & without photos...and even had days where I could have listed more than one thing. But I stepped back and thought about the little things.
49 Weeks Old
You know there are only 52 weeks in a year, right? So that means 3 more weekly photos and...we're done. That's all. I'm a little sad...I looked forward to Wednesday and finding something for Cooper to wear that he hadn't worn in a previous weekly photo session. Now Wednesday will just be Wednesday. The middle of the week and the night of my favorite TV show, Criminal Minds.
Last night we snapped a few quick photos before Jason ran some errands. And I stayed to play hide-n-seek with Cooper and his blanket. Some days he laughs so hard tears start running down his face. Who knew a blanket could be so funny?
And speaking of 'who knew' situations, our freaking weather. Yes, I did send C to school in shorts yesterday. It was warm. Today's high is somewhere in the 60's and according to the local station we'll be back in the 80's next week. Good thing Cooper still has shorts that fit.

Do you think Google can translate this?
Poor Tuff. He laid his eyes on that little baby and I swear you could see his world crashing around him. He's been good...most of the time. But Cooper tries to push his buttons. Saturday after Haley's party we went to my mom's house for dinner. All of a sudden we noticed that Coop had cornered Tuff by his food bowl. Cooper was on all fours with one hand in the air just fussing at Tuff. Tuff was standing so still I think he must have been holding his breath. And Cooper just kept going on and on...shaking his hand at Tuff. Pure gibberish.
Tuff ran to the other side of the kitchen...Cooper followed. Still going after him. It was hilarious. I just wish I knew what he was saying!

Birthday party fun
Saturday we made a quick trip to Dime Box for Haley's second birthday party.
When Haley started to open her gifts I sat Cooper down pretty close so that he could pick up a few pointers from her on how to properly open gifts.
Instead, he decided to sample her fake food.
She was very perplexed at how to continue opening gifts...and make sure Cooper was just taking samples at the same time. But it was also really cute - she wanted to share her baby doll and puppy dog. Coop was only interested in trying to sample the paci that came with the baby doll.
After all of the gifts were opened, we had cake and Cooper got his first taste of whats coming in a few weeks...
Notice the pink lips. He was a fan.

11 Months Old
Yeah, I know, he was 11 months old a week ago. But I have some really cute photos to make up for it.
I feel like we are SO close to him walking. But yet, so far away. He'll walk ok holding our hands and he takes a few steps when he's really excited and forgets that he doesn't know how to walk, but that's it. And if we encourage him walking...well forget it. No way is he going to perform like a trick pony!
Speaking of ponies - I think Aunt Sassy brainwashed him. The only animal Cooper can pick out of a book is a horse. I've tried several different books and he can still find the horse. He's not making animal sounds, but we do get a good ma-ma-ma-ma and da-da-da-da on command.
He'll eat pretty well whatever we are eating for dinner. When he finds something he doesn't like, it's pretty obvious. As soon as he gets the bite of food all the way in his mouth, it comes right back out. The whole thing is pretty funny. He loves bananas - if he sees me eating a banana he comes crawling over, climbs in my lap and wants to share. I'm not quite so sure what is so funny about seeing him eat a banana whole, but it cracks me up. I'm also loving Kelly's suggestion of giving him frozen veggies & fruit. So far he's a fan of peas and blueberries. And they are a lot less messy!
We're gearing up for his birthday party - I'm so excited!

48 Weeks Old
I'm missing 46 & 47 weeks. My mom took pics of Cooper while we were on vacation but I haven't gotten them from her yet and our pics from last week are...gone. I'm going to try to run somewhere this week to get an estimate on how much it will cost to retrieve the data, but I'm not holding my breath that it will fall in my price range. You can put a price on photos and I have a limit.

Joy Day 30
Um...my French Onion Soup (part two) tasted a lot better today than it did last night? It was a rough day.

A little behind
I'm glad I have the 40 Day Challenge right now because without that I'd probably have nothing. I'm behind on blog posts with photos. And I'm not sure how that will change. This weekend we may have killed our second external hard drive. Less than 8 hours after I dumped the memory card onto the hard drive, deleted the photos and about 1/2 an hour before I tried to put them all on Shutterfly. I was NOT a happy camper. Most of them are also on Shutterfly...except the past month.
What's missing? Half of our vacation photos. The pumpkin patch. Halloween. 2 weeks of weekly photos. Cooper's skeleton PJs. His 10 month photos.
To say I wanted to cry is an understatement. But what do you do? We're hoping a friend can help us out and if not I have a suggestion for a "last ditch effort" but that's about it. Last night I was willing to find someone to pay to get them off, but instead I've decided to just recreate some things. And fortunately I've put some photos here that I have to keep. (provided blogger doesn't shit the bed tonight) The vacation photos may be a lost hope. Which sucks because we were pretty good about taking photos at almost every stop and I got to play around artistically with the fancy camera. Ugh.
So for the next week I'm going to be in full Mamarazzi mode and Cooper is going to feel like it's Groundhog Day.
Tonight - Halloween: Take 2.

Having Aunt Sassy spend the day with Cooper. They napped, I grocery shopped and Jason worked in the yard.

Joy Day 26
Seeing Cooper take 2 steps
...before falling flat on his face. I'd post a video, but its sort of mean and sad. It was like he got so excited about getting to the bathtub that he forgot he couldn't walk - he took off, then the top half was moving faster than the bottom half and wham. Face first on the floor. Guess it was a good thing we haven't removed the carpet...
I have a feeling that it won't be long, though, before he really is running to the bathtub.

Strange but true...
Saturday, while on the way back to Texas, I had what is quite possibly the strangest travel day ever. I haven't traveled a lot...but enough. Enough that this was just odd. And slightly comical.
First, SFO is quite possibly the worst airport I've ever been to. Ok, maybe not, but if you rate airports by their food quality, they rank very close to the bottom. (Kelly - I'm speaking your language.) You can't walk 10 feet in IAH without passing a Starbucks or McDonald's. Want a drink? No problem. Bush Airport comes equipped with a wine bar/bistro, restaurant with regular bar service, a few Chili's (margaritas anyone?) and a Fox Sports Grille. Not to mention the free standing bars closer to the gates.
SFO has 3 deli-type places. Maybe 4. I couldn't find a bar. Or a Starbucks. Or something that served fast food. Instead, we had to wait in line for 25 minutes to get a $12 turkey sandwich. I know airport food is expensive but $25 for two sandwiches and a bottle of water is a little insane. I just wanted a quick burger! What I actually wanted was In-N-Out, but I kissed that good-bye really quick.
Now here comes the odd part. We parked ourselves pretty far from the gate. So when they started boarding, I must have missed the announcement that told people if they were not the first on the plane, it would leave them. I was actually pretty confused...until I saw the sign that divides the Elite guests from the rest of the trash (that would be me) start to wobble and fall and heard a collective gasp from the crowd of impatient onlookers. The whole thing played out in a very strange way. First, not one single person freaked out. Second, it took a good 5-7 minutes for someone from Continental and the airport security to show up. And finally as Jason and I got on the plane, the paramedics arrived.
What happened? Well, I'm not sure but, what the lush sitting next to us on the plane described is that someone tripped on the sign (remember - they were afraid the plane would leave without them?) and the sign fell into this guy...who happened to be carrying his one month old baby. In a front carrier. WTF?!? We figured something happened to them because they were the ones talking to the airport reps, but we're still not sure if the sign hit him only, him and the baby or the baby only. Oh, and where I'm really confused - if I'd been the person who tripped and caused the sign to fall into a parent carrying a baby I would have been on them like white on rice.
So the lush - yeah. The woman sitting next to us managed to slam two vodkas and a white wine (before passing out), talk on her phone until about 30 seconds before the wheels were actually off the ground (I know her whole life story) and fuss at this little boy who screamed for 3/4 of the flight. Seriously. I commend the mom for not losing her shit and telling the lush to shut it. She said things in a way where she probably thought she was being helpful, but as another parent it was rude and uncalled for. And it made me uncomfortable - and I wasn't the parent! I wanted to tell her to shut it. Thankfully, as mentioned, she finally passed out drunk. She had to have been drunk since the little boy was right beside her screaming his poor head off. He just wanted to run up and down the aisle. ((and that, my friends, is why I'm terrified to fly with C))
So the final oddity of my trip - if I see this missing woman show up on the news I'll know why. Apparently the girl behind me was flying to FL to meet people she'd met on the Internet. That's how people go missing!!
Wait...come to think of it, that's how I met my best friends...maybe she's not as crazy as I thought... :-)

Happy Halloween!
Jason and I got back from 'cation Saturday - just in time to see a little boy who missed us! Sunday we spent the day doing laundry, playing around, watching football, and getting ready to Trick or Treat.
Since Cooper isn't quite old enough to eat candy...or ask for it...we were a little unsure about Halloween this year. Our friends invited us to join them and take the kids out for some good fun (and a little candy). We had a blast - and there may or may not have been wine involved.
We started the night with Cooper in his stroller, but he really wanted to be one of the "big kids." He did great in the wagon guarding and even went up to a few houses. I can't wait until next year when he actually knows what it is all about.
He thought about being Tony Romo - arm in a sling and all...
...or maybe a baseball player...
but finally settled on Bam Bam Rubble.
Jason and I made the costume - and he wore it the entire night!

We had a Texans Cheerleader...
two princesses...
a complete disaster trying to get them all to photograph together...
but happy kids once we were out and about.
